Successful individuals in the role of System Administrator will possess strong background in Unix operating systems, will work well and communicate effectively with others, are self-starting, creative, and able to think through a project from start to finish. Peak engineers are expected to take total ownership of projects - from architecture, design, and documentation through deployment and maintenance.
Peak engineers enjoy a great deal of autonomy, and are expected to be able to manage their time effectively and efficiently. This position requires discipline and the ability to work in a virtual environment without direct supervision. Candidates should be able to work with a remote team, to take and provide constructive feedback and input from other engineers. Some travel may be required.
Solid understanding of UNIX and Windows operating systems. Hands-on experience with at least one UNIX flavor - Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris. Experience working with open source software. Intermediate to advanced skills in programming. Experience with Microsoft Back Office products (Exchange, SQL Server, SharePoint, Streaming Services) is a definite plus.
In-depth hardware configuration knowledge. Experience with large-scale storage using RAID, JBOD, NAS and SAN is a definite plus.
Basic to intermediate level of understanding of MySQL, PostgreSQL or Oracle relational databases.
